IPTV no sound or lip-sync off? Fix it before the bell

Nothing kills a main event like silence at the walkout or commentary a beat behind the action. Both problems — no sound and audio out of sync — are nearly always a codec or output setting on your end, not a fault in the stream. Here are the fixes, most of them a few seconds' work.

Quick fix
  • Dead silence → switch output to PCM / Stereo; your TV can't decode the Dolby/AC3 track.
  • Words behind the picture → drop passthrough and shift the audio offset a few ms.
  • Just one channel mute → not you, it's the feed; we'll swap it.

The reassuring part: neither problem is your subscription failing. A stream carries several audio tracks and a codec flag, and the trouble is almost always a mismatch between that flag and what your TV, box or soundbar is set to accept. That's why the fixes below live in settings, not in the stream — flip the right toggle and the commentary is back in time for the walkout.

No sound at all

  1. Try another audio track — open the audio menu mid-playback and switch; plenty of channels carry two or more tracks.
  2. Force PCM / Stereo output — in the player's settings. Dead audio is usually a Dolby/AC3 track the TV can't handle; PCM/Stereo gives it a format it can.
  3. Rule out the obvious — volume, mute, and the TV or soundbar sitting on the right HDMI input.

Sound lagging the picture

  1. Re-enter the channel — leaving and rejoining often re-syncs a fresh stream.
  2. Dial in the audio offset — most players (TiviMate, Smarters, Kodi) let you nudge audio by milliseconds until lips and words meet.
  3. Drop passthrough — set player and TV to PCM/Stereo instead of Dolby passthrough, a frequent cause of drift.
  4. Suspect the soundbar — HDMI-ARC and certain "sound modes" add delay; test the TV's own speakers to isolate it.

Silent on one channel only? If it's just the one feed, the fault is at source, not in your setup. Message us the channel and we'll move you to a working feed before the bell — clean sound is part of the service.

Frequently asked questions

Picture but no sound — what's wrong?

Almost always a Dolby/AC3 track your TV or box can't decode, so it plays silent. Flip the player's audio output to PCM or Stereo, or switch to another audio track on the channel, and the sound comes straight back.

Commentary is out of sync — how do I fix it?

Lip-sync drift is usually audio passthrough or a soundbar adding its own delay. Turn passthrough off (PCM/Stereo), then use your player's audio-offset control to shift the sound a few milliseconds until it lines up with the picture.

Only one channel is silent — is that me?

No — if every other channel is fine, that single feed has an audio fault at source. Tell us the channel and we switch you to a working feed; stream-side faults are ours to fix.
